What do you know?

How do you count weeks of pregnancy?

Pregnancy weeks are counted from the first day of your last period, not from the day you conceived. So at the moment of conception you are already about 2 weeks pregnant. A full pregnancy is about 40 weeks. The first trimester runs to the end of week 13, the second from week 14 to the end of week 27, and the third from week 28 until birth.

How we calculate this

We work out the start date (due date − 280 days) and count the days from then to today. We split the days into weeks and days. Trimesters: 1st = weeks 0–13, 2nd = weeks 14–27, 3rd = week 28 onward.
